Li has no such certainty that there's a rational explanation for this. Irrational, maybe. That's more along the lines of how her life works, usually. For now, though, any speculation would be baseless. They have to stick to what they know for sure.

Forcing the matter makes sense, for people who have reached out to others and been refused in the past." A lot of people are selfish. She was that selfish not long ago. It's a bad decision, a wrong thing to do, but a kind of wrong that she can understand easily.
