Link does end up making his way to the ATVs, but his little detour means Luke's well ahead of him. Not that Link had thought to keep up with Luke; the idea of sticking with another particular person just hadn't occurred to him. He was too used to being on his own for that.

Much later though, Link will have arrived at Witches Camp. He'll have witnessed a presentation, which was as strange an experience as everything else he'd gone through today.

Now Luke might find Link just outside Central Command, looking at some of the taller nearby buildings with consideration.
