The Tether App

During the night, everyone's phone or other network device has been updated with a new app - The Tether - intended for helping new arrivals find Tethers.

Unfortunately for those who don't want to participate, the prompt for the application will keep popping up on their screen until they fill out the mandatory fields and post their profile. If you don't want to participate, it might be best to fill in the blanks with prank answers!

Once posted, the app creates a profile that looks like this:

It is a simple swiping type app like many dating apps, swipe left to ignore a profile, swipe right to initiate an instant messenger conversation with the person in question on the app's proprietary chat program, complete with emojis!

What the 2000 years or the mixed bag? Because really the 2000 years is a drop in the bucket compared to millions or billions.

The mixed bag makes perfect sense; that is simply the cost of living life. Doing so for two thousand years is what I cannot imagine.

Millions and billions are numbers I leave to the realm of philosophers.

Goodness, I had not intended to give such an impression.

[ Obi-Wan was playing with words. Not with mean intentions, it was more just something he enjoyed doing. The answer really could go either way; though in truth philosophizing had never gotten him into trouble.

Dogmatic adherence to the philosophies of others' on the other hand? But he wasn't getting into that over a glorified dating app. ]

I feel a very undignified desire to make a joke out of that name and the word 'confusing', and I am not sure why.

Unless you're a sentient cup of green tea in which case that's even more impressive.

Now that raises the question. Would I -as a sentient cup of green tea- have been sentient back when I was a tea leaf, or did I become sentient after I was brewed?

[ Call it a hunch, but Obi-Wan has the distinct impression that this person may enjoy this bit of ridiculous speculation. ]

Depends how far back you'd want to go in your lineage as a green tea leaf. Trees, by default, have expansive networks and their own language so they could be sentient from the start. If you're basing it off that yes, you were sentient from the start.

If you wanted to say you weren't sentient then what granted you that ability? Was there something in the liquid that gave you your sentient abilities?

One does have to acknowledge that being dunked in a vat of boiling liquid would cause one to wake from even the deepest slumber.

Though I have visited planets where the trees and bushes were quite sentient, even downright opinionated. I believe that, were I a tea leaf, they are who I would have chosen as my ancestors.
