The Tether App

During the night, everyone's phone or other network device has been updated with a new app - The Tether - intended for helping new arrivals find Tethers.

Unfortunately for those who don't want to participate, the prompt for the application will keep popping up on their screen until they fill out the mandatory fields and post their profile. If you don't want to participate, it might be best to fill in the blanks with prank answers!

Once posted, the app creates a profile that looks like this:

It is a simple swiping type app like many dating apps, swipe left to ignore a profile, swipe right to initiate an instant messenger conversation with the person in question on the app's proprietary chat program, complete with emojis!

It isn't really comparable. There's not enough of a culture or society for any of us to have it clash or mesh.

NLA was an entire human city to begin with. When xenos came, they did so in large numbers, at least culturally speaking. Two Prone clans, an entire Ma-non ship, the sum total of the Orpheans, a Definian tribe, a substantial group of Zaruboggan, itinerant Nopon, the occasional Wrothian... All of us who have appeared here don't outnumber any one of these groups.

Do you not find individual cultural struggles compelling enough to examine?
Technically you are the "xeno" now.

At scales like this, those struggles are more personal than cultural. They certainly reflect cultures, but it's the difference between psychology and sociology. Being in a paramilitary organization means that personal disputes are much less likely to require action and intervention from my side than cultural ones might.

What was your role within the field? Conflict resolution?

The division I lead was the Reclaimers, focused on salvaging parts of the ship that brought us to Mira. But since BLADE had limited capacity for all the problems, most of the time division focus was more of a recommendation than a requirement. Conflict resolution fell under the Mediator division, but there was some fair share of that.

I suppose you could say that, but no small part of it is my Skell license. Skells are in short supply, so those of us who can pilot them need to be prepared to do any task necessary should it require one.
