The Tether App

During the night, everyone's phone or other network device has been updated with a new app - The Tether - intended for helping new arrivals find Tethers.

Unfortunately for those who don't want to participate, the prompt for the application will keep popping up on their screen until they fill out the mandatory fields and post their profile. If you don't want to participate, it might be best to fill in the blanks with prank answers!

Once posted, the app creates a profile that looks like this:

It is a simple swiping type app like many dating apps, swipe left to ignore a profile, swipe right to initiate an instant messenger conversation with the person in question on the app's proprietary chat program, complete with emojis!

[It's a bit of a shocking revelation, but not surprising, really. Everything about Ben tells her that this would be absolutely within the realm of what he would do.]

[So this one, young and impulsive - he must be a Force talent. A learner, of some sort. Which makes his learning everyone's responsibility. Every Jedi, at least.]

[He'll be a great student until he's not, but even then he'll mostly try... aside from some whining here and there. But he's quite eager. Honest! And impatient, but well uh.. yeah, see the eager part.]

[He doesn't wait for her answer if he can to ask it. She's the only one he knows he can ask and he needs to know that he hadn't been losing his mind that day.]

When a jedi dies is it possible for them to not really be gone? Because there was a time when I could hear him and it was like I could kind of feel his presence again. But how is that possible?

[Not that he's had long to adjust to Ben's presence and how it felt, but it was enough that the lack of it was jarring. So having it back even briefly? Priceless.]

[Ah, a difficult question. It was knowledge that came and went from the Jedi - not always remembered. Certainly how it was done. Even by her time, it was barely spoken of.]

There are stories about it. Legends, from the days of the war against Exar Kun and further back. I am certain it was his presence that you felt - but I must admit, I do not know the process by which it happens.

My masters never spoke of it, at least. The end is meant to be the end.

I wish I could tell you more - as I said, it is...an unknown, to me. But the stories are...persistent.

It's still more information than I'd had before. So it as really useful.

I don't even know the questions to ask. I only got to learn from Ben for a few days. I don't even know if there are any other jedi I can go to back home.

Then not knowing what to ask is natural enough. But there will always be a path - the Force will provide, in time.

Your skills, as you find them, will grow with practice. The journey, once begun, does not ever truly end.

I do not know your circumstances, so I cannot say much about that - but a Jedi must always be willing to learn, and learn anew.

[In years to come, Yoda's aphorism that he must unlearn what he has learned is very much a reflection of this.]
