The Tether App

After the raging success of their previous code push, the creators of The Tether have decided to push their app again, an app intended for helping new arrivals find Tethers.

Unfortunately for those who don't want to participate, the prompt for the application will keep popping up on their screen until they fill out the mandatory fields and post their profile. If you don't want to participate, it might be best to fill in the blanks with prank answers!

Once posted, the app creates a profile that looks like this:

It is a simple swiping type app like many dating apps, swipe left to ignore a profile, swipe right to initiate an instant messenger conversation with the person in question on the app's proprietary chat program, complete with emojis!

"What did he say?" is something Kylo nearly considers typing in reply to that bit about Rey asking Rokuro about tethering to him, but thinks better of it, on several levels.]

I didn't ask you to find a tether for me.

[He doesn't need her to, much as she seems to think otherwise. He's already messaged Vader to start that conversation, thank you very much.]

I fainted. Rokuro protected us both until I recovered.

[It was a strangely fitting role reversal of their first mission - one that made him glad he had chosen not to leave Rokuro unguarded then and that the other clearly had a sense of reciprocity.]

There are a shortage of correctly-aligned people and I already know you aren't going to tether to Luke or Obi-Wan Kenobi. It seemed worth investigating other options in the event you kept delaying the matter.

Has it occurred to you that if you're badly enough affected, it'll start to hurt me, too? Or that I can't just stand around and let you perform slow experiments of self-destruction without trying to intervene?

[The switch over to just asking how he's doing is a little jarring.]

And pardon her if she needs to see you for herself before she can stop being unreasonably worried.

There's a knock on the door after a few minutes of suspicious silence from the app. ]

[Between the concern and the silence, he isn't too surprised when she does show up at his door.

As he opens the door, he looks exhausted more than anything else. He's far from being deathly ill, but it's also immediately apparent that he isn't at his best.]

[ She looks faintly exasperated, but her expression softens a touch when she sees him. ]

You could've said you had a plan.

You could've even told me what the plan was. I would've listened.

[Even opening the door to that largely frustrated greeting, he's glad to see her. Though her assertion is met with a skeptically raised brow.]

You would have tried to talk me out of it.

Yes, and I would have conceded that it's not the worst idea, like I'm doing now.

[ She looks him over and huffs a small frustrated sigh. ]
